The fourth eco-tourism season at Amangarh Tiger Reserve in Uttar Pradesh has been extended by 15 days, allowing wildlife enthusiasts to enjoy jungle safaris and tiger sightings till June 30, officials said on Saturday.
Bijnor Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Jai Singh Kushwaha said the eco-tourism season at the reserve, located adjacent to the Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve, was earlier scheduled to conclude on June 15.
However, the Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Anuradha Vemuri has extended the season till June 30.
“The tiger reserve will be closed after June 30 for the monsoon season as movement becomes difficult due to waterlogging and other challenges during the rains,” Kushwaha said.
The DFO said the extension would provide more opportunities to wildlife lovers to visit the reserve and observe tigers in their natural habitat.
According to the forest department data, 3,068 tourists visited Amangarh Tiger Reserve during the first eco-tourism season in 2022-23, while the second season recorded 6,500 visitors.
During the third season in 2024-25, a total of 3,104 tourists undertook jungle safaris.
The three tourism seasons together generated revenue of more than Rs 17 lakh, officials said.
Amangarh Tiger Reserve, spread across the Terai region of western Uttar Pradesh, shares its landscape with the Corbett tiger habitat and has emerged as an important destination for wildlife tourism.
